On 23-24 Sept 2000, the team assembled at the Fall Fair to build the skid, using three 55' red cedar logs donated by Weyerhaeuser

Bark peeling was the first operation

Rudi reviewed the plans, an exact replica of the original sled, and marked the logs.

Log carving and assembly took two full days.
|
|
|
|
Mike Davenport from Weyerhaeuser and Howie McKamey from Goat Lake Forest Products assisted with chainsaw work.

|
|
|
|
Red Cedar was used because of durability. Original sleds were made of Douglas Fir for strength.
|
|
|
|
The third log was used for the cross members. After cutting to fit, the sled was ready for disassembly and transport to the Trail.
