April 21:  Stephen James, Dan Parsons, Doug Lott, Dave Hodgins; with Dave Florence taking the photo of the flat car which will be multi-purpose: a Log car and a Riding car.

The flat car was completed May 8.

Doug Lott built the caboose at home and it was installed on the frame of the former red earth-hauler.

Bob added a roof cap since this photo was taken, and at the Tuesday evening work parties some trim has been added.

Sandblasting - Primer  A new sponsor -  West Coast Industrial Maintenance on Franklin, donated the sandblasting and primer coat to us. .Dan Parsons reported January 9: "The parts are back from West Coast Industrial Maintenance. Sand blasting and prime coat is done. Dan painted the tender frame satin black. Some parts still need cleaned up and painted before assembly of the loco and tender. We must decide what colour to paint the loco and tender. It's now time for work parties to start. photos here

Gas Engine Status Dan is pleased to report the loco engine which we thought required replacement may in fact be ok.  He had only to spray in some carb cleaner, and away it went on a few pulls. By April it was fully tested and works well.

Nanaimo Package Acquisition - Dec 2011 -  After the PRFMS executive approved the purchase; Dan and his son Todd and went to Nanaimo Dec 10 to pick it up. It took them all day Saturday; equipment was in three locations, and the long pieces of rail had to be cut to 20' to get them in Lynda's horse van which conveniently was on the island needing a ride home. On Sunday Dec 11, the package was unloaded by Dan, Shaun Coburn and Bob Johnson at the Parson's ranch on McLeod Road. After looking the equipment over in detail, Dan reports that although on the surface the equipment looks rough, (requiring replacement of much of the wood, and sand-blasting and painting of metal parts); the underlying design and quality of the trucks, bearings etc are excellent. The earth-hauler red shown above has been converted into a caboose, and the aluminium earth hauler will become a ride-car photos here
